A PASSENGER DAY ON THE MOUNTAIN

Tokyo
to Touge.

> TOKYO IS THE START — THE TOUGE IS THE EXPERIENCE

Legend has a location.

A day pulled from old Japanese car videos, on a circuit with real touge history. Gunma is the heartland of Japan’s touge culture: winding mountain passes, hot-spring towns and the car that made touge drifting famous, the AE86. Not a theme park. Ride beside the drivers and machines carrying that spirit forward, in a small group of up to 20.

The history in three lines
1983The AE86 arrives. Never the fastest car on paper. In the right hands, on the right road, it became an icon of late-night builds and high-revving 4A-GE commitment.
2000sGunsai touge battles. Gunma Cycle Sports Center became a filming ground for the touge-video era, tape after tape of the cars this day is built around.
NowRide with real drivers. Sit next to the local drivers on a closed course, then meet the builds in the paddock.

Independent event. References to Japanese touge, drift and car-video history describe cultural history only. No affiliation, endorsement or licensed footage is implied. The Gunsai photos and clips on this page were shot by us.

Gunsai’s mountain circuit was built for cycle racing, so it is narrow, blind and rough, with no escape zones. Course A (red) and Course B (gold) each run on part of it. Course A is the one on this ticket.

09 / FAQQUESTIONS FROM THE PADDOCK

The small print.

Q1Will I drive, or ride as a passenger?

You ride. Professional drivers drive; guests never drive the cars.

Q2How do I get there?

There is one way: the train. Take the Joetsu Shinkansen from Tokyo to Jōmō-Kōgen (1h02–1h17) and watch the countryside go by. We pick you up at the station at 09:00, drive 12 minutes to Gunsai and bring you back to the station at about 15:30. No driving, no five hours of traffic there and back. You book your own train ticket (about ¥5,600 each way at the JR fare).

Q3Which course do you run?

Gunsai’s Course A, the shorter, mainly uphill layout (about 2 km), once a month on a weekday. The direction of each date is confirmed with the venue.

Q4How many rides do I get?

Up to 4 rides are included in your ticket and 3 are guaranteed, across 3 AE86s and 2 wild cards. Want more? Fun tickets add one extra ride each for ¥5,000, sold only if there are spare runs.

Q5What if a car breaks down?

You move to another car and our organizer’s backup car joins. If we still miss your 3 rides, we refund each missed ride (ticket ÷ 3), or give you a free Photo Set or a seat on a future date.

Q6Are all the cars AE86s?

Three modified AE86s, each a different spec build, plus two wild cards such as an RX-7 or 180SX. Every car is rear-wheel drive. Each date’s lineup is published.

Q7What if it rains?

If it rains, things just get wilder! The touge doesn’t stop. Bring a jacket and a can-do attitude, and watch the insane sideways action. If a typhoon warning is issued for Gunma 48 hours before, we move you to the next date or refund in full.

Q8How do I pay?

You pay by card after we confirm your date. We email you the exact total and a secure Stripe payment link. Nothing is charged before that.

Q9What is your cancellation policy?

Full refund up to 14 days before the event, 80% from 13 to 8 days, 50% from 7 to 3 days, no refund from 2 days before or for a no-show. No fee if we resell your place, and a full refund or a new date if we or the venue cancel. The full policy is linked in the footer.

Q10Which date is it?

Our first date is Friday 25 December 2026 on Gunsai’s Course A, at ¥34,500. More dates follow once we have seen how it goes.

Q11Do I need my own helmet?

A helmet is required for every ride. Rent one for ¥3,000 or bring your own approved helmet. Wear long sleeves, long trousers and closed shoes.

Q12Can I come a day early?

Not yet, but it is coming soon. A Touge Package (a guided Shibukawa and Mt Haruna day and a night at Touge Town) and a Gunma touge weekend are on the way. Register interest and we will tell you first.

Q13Is this an official event of any anime, magazine or video series?

No. We are independent and not affiliated with, endorsed by or licensed from any anime, manga, magazine or video series. It celebrates real Japanese touge and motorsport history.

Q14When can I book?

Dates are being prepared. Register interest to hear about the first release. No payment is taken here.
